Joining the Guild
Membership of the Guild of British Film and Television Editors (Full or
Associate) is open to all editors working in the film, television and corporate industries
who have a proven track record of crafting the moving image. Trainee editors and students
intending to work as editors may be proposed as affiliate members of the Guild.
Membership of the Guild is usually proposed by an existing member.
However, as the craft has become increasingly fragmented in recent years, with editors working
alone on many projects, the Guild has a regular programme of Open Evenings to enable editors and
assistant editors to meet current Guild members and find out more about how the Guild works for
editors and editing. If you would like to attend one of these events please contact the
Guild
Secretary who will then ensure that you are informed when and where they are being held.

All proposals for full or associate membership should be accompanied
by a list of credits for recent work
New members pay a joining fee equivalent to one year's subscription
in addition to the first year's membership
Annual subscriptions are payable on 1st June. Members joining between
December and June will receive a 50% reduction in that year's subscription
